Assigning roles to people

Roles are granted to individual users in Settings → User Management. A person can hold several roles at once; their effective access is the union of all of them.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings → User Management.
  2. Create a new user, or edit an existing one.
  3. Under Roles, tick every role the person should have.
  4. Save. The change takes effect the next time they sign in (or refresh).

How effective permissions are calculated

If someone has both a "Viewer" role and a custom "Billing Manager" role, they can view everything and manage billing — the permissions add up. There's no need for a single all-encompassing role; compose access from smaller ones.

Existing members

When Access Control was introduced, everyone was mapped to a built-in role automatically: previous administrators became Admin, and everyone else became Member. You can refine these at any time.

Tip: To make a read-only stakeholder, assign only Viewer. To restrict someone to one area, create a custom role with just that module's permissions and assign only that.
